Performance Art Workshop
The workshop will take place on two dates:
November 12, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM.
December 3, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM.
Performance art is considered one of the most complete and radical art forms, as it emerges from the meeting of visual and performing arts, and beyond. Drawing its background from the Dada movement and Antonin Artaud, and reaching artists such as Marina Abramović and Romeo Castellucci, this art form creates space for artists characterized by a restless spirit and a strong desire for experimentation and deeper exploration.
More specifically, performance art explores the body through improvisation in relation to space and time, as well as physical and psychological limits, and the expression of what cannot be said with words but is conveyed through the encounter of bodies and gazes. The performer’s body becomes the living element of a work of art presented before an audience, which plays a crucial role in shaping the final outcome.

First day 12.11, 17:00-21:00
The workshop will begin with:
- body exercises: the poetic body, the suspension of rational control, the release of expressiveness, and the exploration of physical and emotional limits
- exploration of the senses
- vocal exercises and the discovery of sounds emerging from the body
- the use and symbolism of objects, digital arts, and the visual thinking of self-direction
At the end of the workshop, there will be an introduction to Aeschylus’ Oresteia, including text analysis and role distribution.
Throughout the workshop, there will be references and material related to key milestones in contemporary art history and pioneering artists, aiming to broaden participants’ perspective and enhance their way of observing art.
Second day 3.12, 17:00-21:00
Working on the Oresteia
Participants will present the performance they have prepared, along with their ideas and interpretations of their roles. The project will be completed through a collective composition, connecting and further developing these ideas.
about the play
King Agamemnon returns from Troy. His wife, Clytemnestra, kills him in order to avenge the sacrifice of their daughter, Iphigenia.
In the Libation Bearers, their son Orestes, with the help of his sister Electra, avenges his father by killing his mother.
In the Eumenides, Orestes is pursued by the Furies for committing matricide, but he is eventually put on trial in Athens and acquitted with the intervention of the goddess Athena. In this way, the cycle of bloodshed comes to an end, and personal revenge is replaced by the justice of laws.

Possible Third Meeting – Performance Presentation
Depending on the participants’ commitment and the time needed to prepare the performance, a third meeting may take place. This session would include a public performance presentation followed by a discussion with the audience, creating space to share and reflect on the collective experience.
about Themida Jo
Themida Jo studied theatre directing at the National Theatre of Athens and is a graduate of the Higher Drama School Praxis 7. She has also attended visual arts courses at the Morfes Art School and has knowledge of art and theatre history. She holds a diploma in pantomime and physical theatre.
Since 2012 she has collaborated with theatre groups focusing on actor direction and stage directing, while also organizing acting workshops in theatre spaces across Athens.
She is the founder of Acting Studio 31, an acting studio operating in Athens since 2022.
